Reconnect to your aliveness

This 15-minute audio practice will reconnect you with your felt-knowing that analysis can't reach.

And the accompanying journal prompts will help you catch the insight your body shares before it evaporates.

When you return to the practice regularly, you'll actually inhabit your life differently – how you listen, receive and dance with your experience.

Before you begin

Find a seat where you won’t be interrupted. Headphones help. You set the pace, so if you feel dizzy or overwhelmed, open your eyes, look around the room, and return to your natural breath.

Hi love,

Alex here 👋🏽

I know this journey because I lived it. Extra-curriculars stacked. Top University scholarship for economics. Fortune 500 business consulting. Early promotions. Built and scaled a tech company. Became an Award-winning entrepreneur. Aaaand breathe 😮‍💨

I was the classic cerebral high achiever—thriving on the outside but disconnected inside. My health, relationships, and sense of self suffered. I pushed through on intellect and drive alone, stuck in high-achiever freeze.

Like so many of my clients, I was shocked when I started connecting with my full somatic experience—it was the missing piece. True transformation happened when I united body and mind, bridging logic and emotion to turn functional freeze into freedom.

As a Somatic & Breathwork Therapist (Your SOMATIC INTELLIGENCE Teacher), I bring a rare mix of corporate logic, deep somatic wisdom, and mind-body expertise to help high achievers step into full aliveness.

I believe the development of somatic intelligence, and its unification with cerebral intelligence, is the key to healing the functional-freeze epidemic that manifests as relational and physical illness in our modern world. This is why I built this work.

TRanscript

Flow of today: we're going to orient in our space before doing a really easy breath practice that's called 20 Breaths, and we'll do a bit of a body scan.

The point of today is just actually to start to reconnect with the body and come down, and start to ask it a few questions.

Sound good? Awesome. Okay.

So before we close our eyes, we want to use our eyes and how they plug into our nervous system to let us know where we are. So if we can all just, really slowly, take some time to look around the room or the space that you're in. So looking, okay, there might be a door. Perhaps there's a window. You can look up at the ceiling behind you, like, "Yes, I am not driving in traffic or stuck on the tube. I'm definitely in my room." And I'll just give you a moment here just to reorient. All right. That may feel just a little settling. And now, finding a comfortable position to sit for a little while and gently, gently closing your eyes.

So before we turn our attention to our breath, let's take a moment to reconnect with the body. This vessel that has been with us every day: protecting us, carrying us. Starting with bringing our awareness to the very, very top of our head. Just noticing the qualities at this moment, not trying to change anything, but just feeling that top of our head. Bringing ourselves down to that space between the eyebrows, right round to the top of our jaw. Feeling down into the neck, the spine, trickling your awareness out to your shoulders, down the spine, right to the hips, down the back of your legs as they meet the surface beneath you, all the way down and into your heels.

So now we've connected to our body a little; let's fill it with some really beautiful conscious breaths

We're going to take 20 breaths together, breathing in through the nose and sighing out through the mouth. And our fifth breath of each of the five breath cycles will be extra big.

So, following my lead, taking a breath to prepare. And breathing in through the nose, filling up, let the ribs expand, and then let go, aaaah. Flowing straight into your inhale, breathing in, and letting go, aaaah. Breathing in and expanding, bringing more quality to your breath before sighing out through the mouth, letting go.

Now an extra big breath. Breathing in, filling up, filling up even more. And holding your breath at the top of this inhale. Just hold for a moment. Sip in a little more air, and then let it go, aaaah.

Turning back to your breath, in through the nose, sighing exhale. Breathing in again, filling up. Let the belly expand. And sigh, letting go. Breathing in. Feel your whole body expand before, aaaah, letting go. Breathing in again, and sigh it out, aaaah.

An extra big breath here, so breathing in, filling up as much as you can, even a little bit more, holding your breath at the top for a second, and letting go, aaaah. Breathing in, letting go, aaaah. Filling up, breath connecting with the body, and letting go, aaaah.

Flowing here now, breathing in, and aaaah, sighing that out, really exhale. Expanding into the ribs once more, feel your body consciously, and surrender, letting go, aaaah.

And now for our extra big breath: breathing in, ribs, chest, sip in one little bit more breath, hold for a second, and let it go, aaaah.

Our last round of 5: breathing in, this is your time to reconnect, surrender, exhale. Filling up, letting go, aaaah. Filling up, letting go, aaaah. And our extra big breath here: filling up, belly, ribs, and chest expand. Sip in a little more air. Hold. Hold at the top. And let it all go, aaaah.

Pause here. Be in the reconnection both with your awareness of your body and with the conscious use of your breath. From this place of listening, scan your own body, looking for any sensations or any part of the body that's calling out, giving us a little wave. Maybe tightness in the shoulder, numbness in the stomach, contraction in the chest, tingling in the head. Once you've found that part of your body, zoom in on it a little more, just whisper to yourself, to this part of you, whether it's the shoulder, the hips... Say, "Hello, body, hello, shoulder... is there something you'd like me to know?" Listening. Opening yourself up to receive the message rather than give the instruction.

Thanking that part of your body for communicating with you. If it feels good, you can place a hand there as you slowly, but gently, open your eyes and come back into the room.

So taking just, literally, a minute here to write down anything that came through: what sensation you noticed, what part of your body, and anything that was communicated.
